The Old Time Radio Vault is operated in the city of Calgary, which is in the province of Alberta, which is in Canada. Over the past while, the valuation of the Canadian dollar vis-a-vis the US dollar has fluctuated quite wildly. This has made it difficult for me to anticipate revenues, as all of my expenses are in Canadian dollars. If the Canadian dollar dips, I receive more money from US dollar payments. If the Canadian dollar surges, I receive less money.

Now that PayPal offers multiple currencies, I've decided to take advantage of this and introduce a bit of stability into the Vault's operation. I have updated the "Shopping Cart" system to now accept payment only in CANADIAN DOLLARS. You may still send US dollar payments via postal mail if desired.

So the question you ask is: how much is a Canadian dollar worth, anyways?

At the time of this writing (July 4th 2003), it's worth roughly 3/4s of an American dollar. So, for example, something valued at 20 Canadian dollars (represented as "CAD") will cost roughly 15 US dollars (represented as "USD").

You may still use your existing PayPal account to make payments in Canadian dollars - ie: on your credit card or against your bank account, even if they are not denominated in Canadian dollars. PayPal will convert the Canadian dollar amount (they promise a "competitive exchange rate") into the appropriate currency automatically. In the above scenario, you'd see a charge of (roughly) $15 USD appear on your US credit card. The actual amount will vary as currency values vary.
